I would like to point out a small but important mistake in your website.
John Lawrence is from Cullen in Banffshire not Aberdeenshire.
He was best man at my mum & dad’s wedding.
Dad had great memories of John’s speedboat driving days in Cullen Bay.
John has a surviving brother James, who is a retired doctor and lives in Aberlour – also in Banffshire.

Dear David Thank you for your e mail correcting my knowledge of Scottish geography. I have always had trouble with the Banffshire/Aberdeenshire border and now stand corrected. John, or Jock as we usually referred to him, was a great character and I first saw him race the Cooper-MG that brought him to the attention of David Murray. The last time I spoke to him was when he arrived back in the South of England and was working on yachts but he sadly died shortly afterwards. I never did have a chance to sit down with him and hear some of his stories of his early racing. GG
