Ecurie Ecosse

Question

I was so pleased to come across your website, when I was looking for the paint reference, I had looked many times before but could never found the site, keep up the good work?

I was so saddened by the passing of David Leslie, I used to race karts in Scotland and I will always remember coming 2nd to David Leslie at my first ever race at Boyndie in 1969 ( I still have the race result sheet!) and I remember too my dad and Mr. Leslie senior conferring over race set up. Ah those were the days.

I was surprised to see the Ecurie Ecosse transporter is available again, I have several of the original models back "home" in Canada at the moment.

Anyway the purpose of my writing is to pose a few questions:

  • I am currently having a 1959 Austin Healey Sprite race car professionally refurbished and prepared to concours standard for me to race when I return to the UK and I would like to have it painted in Ecurie Ecosse Blue, what would be the protocol in putting a couple of Ecurie Ecosse stickers on the car? Would you have an objection to this?
  • Are there any plans to sell Ecurie Ecosse supporters clothing, t- shirts, sweat shirts, jackets, caps, fleeces, car badge, umbrellas and the like?
  • When and where is it possible to see the Ecurie Ecosse transporter close up?

After 18 years away from the UK, I am returning home to take up a new job in Edinburgh in July, and if there is anything that I can do to further the cause or help Ecurie Ecosse in any way I would be glad to become involved.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Best Regards
Gordon Mellis

Answer:

Dear Gordon,

Thank you for your enquiry and the points you raise.

You may or may not know that the original Ecurie Ecosse Sprite is now totally restored and is owned by Dick Skipworth who owns many Ecurie Ecosse cars as well as the transporter.

Yes, we are preparing various Ecurie Ecosse items which will be promoted through the web site as soon as these are finalised and are ready to sell.

At the moment we are not yet sure but the transporter might be at Knockhill in July at their historic meeting but Dick Skipworth has yet to confirm his plans. Meanwhile we will aim to get a list of places where the Transporter will be present for the rest of the season.
