The Scottish Motor Racing Club dinner is always a memorable affair particularly as the club is always supported by members who have reached the top of the tree. It is as though a three line whip has been put out and all the drivers keep coming. The only one of the leading drivers not attending was David Coulthard who was otherwise engaged with the Race of Champions. However four time Indy Car Champion Dario Franchitti flew in from the United States as did Ryan Dalzell who has been competing in the US Trans-Am competition. Allan McNish, President of the Club flew in from Monaco and Paul Di Resta, still recovering from his Top Rookie placing in 2011 World Championship flew in from Brazil.

It was a great night, also, for Ecurie Ecosse as Hugh McCaig, Patron of the team, presented the prestigious Ecurie Ecosse Hubcap to Paul Di Resta for his remarkable performance. The hub cap was originally presented to the club by David Murray of Ecurie Ecosse and features one of the actual wing-style wheelnuts from the D-type Jaguar with which Ecurie Ecosse won Le Mans in 1956: their first win there. Paul was thrilled to receive the award for etched on the base were the names of all the leading Scottish racing drivers through the years.
