Max Boxstrom
It has been a sad few months for Ecurie Ecosse what with the death of Jimmy Stewart and now we have just heard that Max Boxtrom who was involved with the design of the Ecosse cars for the World Group C2 Championship from 1986 has died.
Max was a fascinating character, born in Sodertalje in Sweden and brought up in Canada, he had his lugubrious, introspective, moments and could also be prickly at times but he could also be amusing and self-deprecating.
Max had always been crazy about racing and came to England with his motorcycle and was offered the chance to join Brabham. He later was involved with Trojan and designed the Kitchener F5000 car. He then created Dymag which designed and made specialised magnesium wheels for racing cars. Max stayed with the team for nearly four years and was instrumental in the design and development of the Aston Martin AMR1 project.
Afterwards Max continued to live in Britain and worked on a number of design projects.
